Frequently Asked Questions
Who is AEE Rwanda?
AEE Rwanda (African Evangelistic Enterprises Rwanda) is a registered local NGO that has been operating in Rwanda since 1987. Founded as a faith-based organization, our Christian values continue to guide and strengthen our work. From the beginning, we have recognized the equal importance of high-quality development practice and addressing the practical needs that enable people to lift themselves out of poverty. This commitment is reflected in our guiding statement: “In Word and Deed – We Serve.”
Over the years, AEE Rwanda has built a strong reputation for delivering meaningful and lasting change. We maintain long-term partnerships with a wide range of supporters, including foundations, corporations, multinational companies, and government institutions.
At the same time, we value our relationships with individual donors, smaller organizations, community networks, and church-based groups who share and support our mission. This combination of broad institutional partnerships and close relational support is a defining strength of AEE Rwanda and a key driver of our impact.
What is meant by the expression, “word and deed”?
The expression ‘word and deed’ is often repeated within AEE Rwanda. In fact, it is even referenced as part of the organisational logo. The phrase conveys a clear understanding that faith is seen in deeds, as well as heard in words.
“Deeds” is a reference to activities and good works that support the development of people and communities. Activities like training, primary health care, community development and self-help groups. Such activities are open to people of all faiths and demographics. They are non-discriminatory and without conditions. When we take part in “good works”, faith is not absent but remains the source of compassion, energy and joy.
“Word” describes those activities where faith is outwardly expressed in written or oral form as part of meetings, workshops, resources or services. These activities focus on providing a deeper understanding of the faith foundation of AEE Rwanda and the role of scripture in shaping personal conduct and community expression.
The phrase ‘word and deed’ is perfectly captured in a quote often attributed to St Francis of Assisi, “At all times I preach Christ, and sometimes I use words.”
How does AEE Rwanda protect children and vulnerable people?
AEE Rwanda has a Safeguarding Policy & Process that protects all vulnerable people, including children, the elderly, women, the poor and people living with a disability. Safeguarding Policy
